Payment methods in Slovakia

Slovakia is perfectly placed as a hub of cross-border commerce, completing the jigsaw between Central and Eastern Europe. Poland, Ukraine, Austria, and the Czech Republic all surround Slovakia and unlike four out of five of these bordering countries, its currency is the Euro (we’ll let you guess which one).

Currency aside, Slovakia has a lot in common with its neighbors when it comes to payments. Cash upon delivery is popular, but credit card and online banking payment methods are gaining in popularity.

In-store, contactless payments have been promoted heavily by the Slovak banks and have enjoyed increased adoption. Debit cards and ewallets are both popular ways to pay contactless.
