Payment methods in Slovenia
There’s still some degree of distrust surrounding electronic payments in Slovenia. Cash on delivery is a popular payment method, often used for smaller everyday purchases. Credit and debit cards are also common and preferred for larger payment amounts. A clear divide exists between the older and younger generations. Older Slovenes tend to pay more in cash, while the younger population leans more on cards and digital wallets. There are three local schemes in Slovenia: Activa (co-branded with Maestro, Mastercard, Visa, or Electron), BA (co-branded with Maestro) and Karanta (co-branded with Mastercard). Adyen doesn’t have a connection with these local schemes but can still process payments as all cards are co-branded.
