Aigens integrates Adyen for Platforms to transform food and beverage sector
Omnichannel approach to payments allows F&B businesses to simplify operation workflows and enhance diner experience
Adyen, the global financial platform of choice for leading companies, today announced its partnership with Aigens, a Hong Kong-based food and beverage (F&B) software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider. Through this collaboration, Aigens incorporates Adyen’s payment capabilities in its Aigens Pay offering, helping restaurants in Hong Kong and Singapore optimize their front- and back-of-house operations with a single omnichannel solution. At launch, F&B businesses like Gyushige, TREEHOUSE, Swee Choon and Louisa Coffee have deployed the solution.
In highly competitive F&B scenes in Hong Kong and Singapore, operational efficiency and diner experience are some of the top priorities for business owners. However, many in the industry lean on siloed payment and point of sales systems, leading to inaccurate amounts being processed when diners settle their bill – a situation that eventually results in a poorer diner experience and complex financial reconciliation.
Already an established provider of F&B software solutions, Aigens looked to resolve their customers’ pain points by embedding payments technology in its offerings. Adyen was chosen for its omnichannel approach to payments that streamlines operation workflows for both F&B enterprises and quick service restaurants alike.
Tapping on Adyen’s payments innovation
By leveraging Adyen for Platforms, Adyen’s payment solution for platform and marketplace customers, Aigens has incorporated Adyen’s payment innovation into three operation flows:
Bill settlement at counter: A traditional way of paying at restaurants. An Adyen’s POS terminal is placed at the countertop for staff to collect bills.
Ordering kiosks: Common at quick service restaurants for both dine-in and takeout orders. An Adyen’s POS terminal is installed at the kiosk for diners’ self-orders.
QR code mobile ordering: Rather than settling the bill at the counter, Adyen’s solution allows diners the convenience of paying online after placing their orders on their mobile devices.
With this partnership, Aigens is now able to offer its merchants:
Reliable in-person payments terminals which integrates swiftly with F&B merchants’ point-of-sales system, minimizing human errors and promoting efficiency
Simplification of the traditionally tedious reconciliation practices for restaurants for greater operational efficiency
Preferred local payment methods for diners – be it through mobile orders, self-payment kiosks or at the counter
Easy, minimal checkout experiences with Tap to Pay on Android
Besides payment hardware, Aigens also introduces Adyen’s Tap to Pay on Android, a software solution that turns any NFC-enabled Android device into a contactless payments terminal. This effectively enables Aigens to customize the payments offering that is best suited to the needs of their F&B merchants.
For instance, settling the bill at popular Hong Kong barbecue chain GyuShige is now made easy. The chain was already deploying Aigens’ QR code ordering solution, where diners would add their orders via the QR code issued to their table. To avoid long queues at the cashier, GyuShige is installing sleek self-checkout stations, each consisting of a single Android tablet. Powered by Adyen’s Tap to Pay on Android solution, diners can simply scan the QR code with the tablet’s camera function, confirm their bill on the screen, and then pay by tapping their cards or mobile against the tablet. Benefits of these self-checkouts are two-pronged: customers enjoy a smoother dining experience, whereas GyuShige’s staff are able to focus on other important tasks without needing to staff the cashier.
By integrating Adyen’s payment technology to upgrade its suite of services, Aigens is now the one-stop solution for its merchants, covering all ordering and payment touch points along the whole diner journey. This partnership effectively diversifies Aigens’ revenue streams to drive greater commercial growth for the company.
Hans Paul, Co-Founder & CEO, Aigens said, “Aigens is committed to empowering the F&B sector through a relentless focus on innovations. To help our merchants elevate diner experience and maximize efficiency, we have partnered with Adyen to craft a comprehensive payment solution which promises flexibility and seamless integration. We are confident that the strengthened Aigens Pay will raise customer satisfaction levels and drive growth for our merchants.”
Kai Tang, Head of Hong Kong, Adyen said, “F&B SaaS providers like Aigens can enhance their value proposition to their customers with embedded payments. This strategic move not only increases customer lifetime value but also opens up new revenue streams for the business, contributing to a more resilient business model in an evolving, competitive SaaS market.”
