Emily Pupo, Account Manager at Adyen.

Meet Emily, an Account Manager at Adyen's Toronto office, who helps Canadian customers achieve even greater success. In this blog, she shares what excites her about her collaborative role, where no two days are alike—except for one daily tradition her team always makes time for.

What excites you about your work?

Account management offers new learning opportunities every day—both from our customers and our team. I am constantly facing new challenges that keep me engaged. I’m especially excited about our work with customers in Canada; the potential to achieve more together is inspiring and drives me forward.

What do you find most challenging about your work?

Every day is different, and that's both exciting and challenging. A lot depends on the ambitions of the customers I work with—one day, it’s about helping them go omnichannel, and the next, we’re strategizing on expanding to a new market. In payments, things can change fast, so adaptability is key. If you’re someone who likes a perfectly laid-out to-do list or thrives on routine, this role might feel a bit overwhelming. But if you love variety and staying on your toes, it’s incredibly rewarding.

How has your role evolved since you started?

As our customers grow, our role grows with them. It’s about balancing local presence with a global mindset. Many customers are expanding beyond their borders, and it’s my job to help them navigate international markets while staying true to their roots. Over time, I’ve had to become more knowledgeable about cross-border payments, local regulations, and how different regions approach payments. It’s been a steep learning curve, but seeing customers succeed globally is worth it!

What does Adyen do differently that makes it a great place to work?

Adyen’s culture is truly unique. The Adyen Formula isn’t just a framework—it’s something we live and breathe, guiding our work and decisions.

Here in Toronto, I’m surrounded by smart, driven teammates who constantly inspire me to grow and push my skills further. And there’s a real emphasis on in-person collaboration. Adyen brings teams together globally to foster learning, increase efficiency, and strengthen relationships.

How would you describe the culture in the Toronto office?

In our office, we live by the mantra, "Be different, be better." This mindset drives us to deliver for our customers, support each other, and grow Adyen’s presence in Canada. We’re a close-knit team where encouragement and motivation are the norm, and everyone genuinely cares about each other’s success. One simple thing we do each day is sit together for lunch. It’s a simple thing that keeps us connected.
