Meet Elisa, Sales Manager in Mexico City
Learn more about the day-to-day life in sales at Adyen Mexico.
In simple terms, the sales team plays an essential function: identify businesses that can benefit from our technology and capture new customers.
Behind the scenes, there's a lot of work that goes into making this happen. From understanding the ambitions of potential customers and being an expert in our products to collaborating with various internal teams to make deals happen. Our sales managers face unique challenges every day.
To learn more about the day-to-day life in sales, we spoke with Elisa Fuentes, a sales manager from our Mexico City office.
What is your day-to-day life like?
As a sales team, our main task is the acquisition of new customers. From the beginning of the prospecting process, we are fully committed until the relationship is sufficiently established to transfer to the Account Management team, who maintain and nurture the relationship once they are established.
It is our job to understand the challenges prospects face and to present how our technology can solve them. This requires us to truly immerse ourselves in each customer's business, making the sales process highly consultative and, at the same time, a very fun experience.
What do you love about your job?
At Adyen, we say we sell "The best to the best.”
The most exciting thing about selling at Adyen is that every customer offers an opportunity to explore a new universe of use cases and challenges to solve. Our technology is flexible enough to find precise solutions for most of them. And as a global company, we have access to a vast network of people worldwide who have probably faced similar problems.
What is the culture of the sales team?
Adyen is a company that strongly encourages teamwork in sales. My favorite thing about working with a partner is that you have someone who is equally invested by your side. You can strengthen ideas with them, you can bring deeper knowledge to customer meetings, and move faster on deals by spreading the workload. During my time at Adyen, I have gotten to meet and work closely with the brightest people, but most of all, we have an inspiring environment that makes days in the office a lot of fun. It’s not a toxic and ego-centric environment. We enjoy each other’s company and it makes the work more fulfilling.
What makes Adyen a great place to work?
At Adyen, all of our decisions are guided by the "Adyen Formula," our eight company values. While it is common for companies to have a set of values, at Adyen we really live by them. From the people we hire and the types of customers we work with, to the types of products we develop, the formula is there when a decision isn’t clear.
Working here is a unique experience. We are constantly challenging one another to solve complex problems in an environment where we can be ourselves. The company prioritizes fostering good relationships amongst employees which translates to greater collaboration across teams and different cultures.
How would you describe the culture at Adyen Mexico?
The Adyen Mexico office is relatively small, but we are known for having a close and welcoming work environment. It is a very tight-knit office. It's common for us to meet up after work on Thursdays, or to exercise together, or even, organize a carne asada. We constantly have visitors from other parts of the world, and more often than not, they wish they could stay longer. It really is a special office.
